The invention that started it all
Heavy stubble was being pushed into the seed furrow rather than cleared from it, compromising seed-to-soil contact and contributing to inconsistent crop establishment. It was a problem farmers knew well, but one Colin Wemyss believed could be solved when a farmer came to him.
The result was the Aricks Wheel, a purpose-built residue manager positioned ahead of the opener to move stubble from its path before the disc enters the soil. By clearing the seeding line first, the opener can create a cleaner furrow and place seed in better contact with the soil.
What began as a practical solution developed in a Corowa workshop became the foundation of Aricks Australia. Today, Aricks Wheels operate across Australia and around the world, helping farmers manage residue, reduce hairpinning and create more consistent conditions for crop establishment.
